After working fifteen years in rural Africa as a missionary physician, Eric McLaughlin knows full well that he falls dramatically short of what is needed of him. The knowledge, resources, and even heart responses needed for medical missions surpass even the most well-trained professional. The Christian gospel, on the other hand, proclaims that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. Given the inevitable weakness that we bring to the table, this is an essential promise for medical missionaries to understand. But what does that mean? How does that work? How do we live out mission believing that this is true? This session will seek to explore the above questions with an aim at encouragement and perseverance rooted in the truth of the Gospel.
