The talk will be built round the irony that Hippocratic physicians set the agenda for medicine for 2000 years by rejecting the killing of patients,
only to have it brought back over the next 400 years to the legalization of euthanasia today.
To understand the four fundamental insights of the Hippocratic School:
1. The necessity of transcendence to the practice of medicine.
2. The essentially moral nature of medicine.
3. The centrality of the commitment to the sanctity of life.
4. The necessity of conscience rights for physicians.
