1. Tropical Medical Cases: Non-Surgical - Jeopardy Game
Medical missions are often challenging because of cross-cultural exposure to unfamiliar diseases in settings with limited diagnostic resources. Common tropical illnesses and parasites are generally unfamiliar to US trained providers. This session will involve teams working on tropical medicine vignettes in a Jeopardy game format. It is also an attempt to model effective teaching and learning tools using interactive, engaging and fun dynamics. Come and enjoy the game. Submit your own short mystery case if you want it shared with the group.

Objectives

Attendees will be able to do the following:
1) Recognize the clinical presentation of common tropical diseases in the major categories of fever, diarrhea, abdominal swelling, skin diseases and malnutrition.
2) List 5 basic groups of parasites, including examples of key protozoa, worms, and ectoparasites.
3) Describe the beneficial effects of some intestinal parasites on childhood immune development.
