The Theology of Missions

  • Breakout Session
  • Student Building (Block) The Porch SMC 302
  • November 8 2018 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

We all assume, rightly, that missions is a basic biblical concept. We are called to go everywhere with the Gospel and share the love of Jesus with everyone. Seems simple enough, so why complicate things with "theology?" Theology, simply put, is talking about and reflecting on "the mighty works of God" God" (Acts 2:11). Missions lies at the heart of the Bible's unfolding story of Gods' plan of redemption in Christ Jesus, the greatest theological story every told. A theology of mission is not simply a collection of verses that tell us to "go," but a foundation for living our Christian lives whatever our vocation, background, stage in life, or geographical location may be. The theology of missions is a story, our story.

Objectives

1. Approach missions as the heart of the Bible's big story and place our lives in that story
2. Put theology and practice of missions together
3. Learn practical ways to share the story of the Bible with anyone
