Understanding the statistical foundations of epidemiology can lead to a better knowledge of research and implementation of new practices. This interactive session will look at issues that stem from the emphasis on positive “p-value” and the need for confidence intervals. Also reviewed will be some of the statistical fundamentals in epidemiology, including but not limited to: sensitivity, specificity, odds, risk, and bias.

Objectives

Define the P-value
Describe the limits of the P-value and the use of confidence intervals
Explain the various statistical foundations of epidemiology, including but not limited to: sensitivity, specificity, odds, risk, bias
