Pharmacotherapy of Chagas Disease
There are an estimated 8 million people in the world who have Chagas disease with an estimated mortality of 10,000 deaths per year. This session will briefly review the epidemiology, symptoms and characteristics of Chagas disease and then focus in on the pharmacotherapy options available for Chagas disease both within the United States and around the world. We will then move on to challenges associated with Chagas disease, such as co-infection with HIV and conclude with a look at the ongoing research and future therapies for the disease.
